I went to see Robert Hong at his new residence, Garden Oaks. In his room, he hangs an art collection that says, “When flowers fall they give us fragrance. When the bamboo is cut off, they are turned into a flute that gives us music.” I thought Mee Yoke passed away, but she gives us fragrance, beautiful memory.
When we die, we still live in the hearts of others. Bob talks about his wife as if she is still with him by his side. When the time came, they decided together not to entend her life so that she could live forever with him in his heart and memory.
Bob is going to be 99 years old this August. His children plans to have a birthday party at the O’Connor Woods. He is also planning a memorial service for his wife. We want to celebrate everybody’s life when we can. Let us live one day at a time.
