Central ministers to our church family, to the community, and to the world. We nurture spiritual growth that leads us to actively engage in the world through ministries of justice and service. To learn more about various age-level programs, service opportunities, and the world-wide mission of the United Methodist Church, please explore our website.
Church family ministries include study groups for youth and adults, including Bible studies; Sunday school; intergenerational gatherings, an active prayer chain, special educational opportunities during Advent and Lent, parent support group, and many more.
Community ministries include a long-standing partnership with Cleveland School, volunteering regularly at St. Mary’s Dining Room, supporting the Stockton Emergency Food Bank and El Concilio, young adult groups for UOP and Delta college students, as well as other young adults not currently attending school, and a weekly Caregivers Support Group. Many community groups hold their meetings at Central, including 12-step programs, the Sierra Club, Audubon Society, Widowed Persons Association, and Hospice of San Joaquin (Camp Caterpillar and other annual events). Our large campus provides space for individuals and families to exercise, relax, walk their pets, and converse in a pleasant outside environment.
World ministries include our full participation in the national and global ministries of the United Methodist Church, supported by sharing a tithe (10%) of Central’s income to fund ministries around the world, and another one percent to support district ministries beyond our church. From Africa University in Zimbabwe, to well-building projects in drought stricken areas, to community organizing for local villages to build much needed structures and services, our church’s reach is global. United Methodist Committee on Relief is a emergency response organization that provides immediate personnel and supplies during earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, and other disasters. We are grateful to support these far-reaching ministries of our denomination.
