This year, I have had the most silent day and night, holy day and night. Usually Advent is filled with many celebrations including musical celebrations. I usually attended many personal and communal parties, gatherings, worship service, small and big. This is one of the busiest season for me.
However, after my car accident I took time for recovery. My church pays me to focus on getting well, and I tried to spend most of my time and energy to get well. I meditate Advent Bible Challenge questions and biblical texts, I walk 2 miles morning, afternoon, and evening, 6 miles everyday to strengthen my breathing to sing praise God. I do Tai Chi style exercise to lift up my arms so that I can do benediction and communion. I rarely attended other events except for church services. Then I felt strong enough to play my violin again. I tried at home couple hymns.
At the Brendwood Hope House, where people get foods, clothes, and household items for free, I decided to play Christmas carols with Hyesung, my wife. I gave thanks to God and all the people who prayed for me while I was playing carols and hymns. I feel like that God gave me a second life that I can use to serve God and God’s people.
