I and my wife decided not to buy a flower for a Valentine’s Day. We enjoy our life together for 36 years together. However, we learned that there are so many singles, never married, widows and widowers, and divorcees. It was not appropriate for us clergy couple to celebrate or enjoy Valentine’s day considering so many church members in those categories.
Then on Valentine’s Day, one church member brought a flower vase with the memo of Happy Valentine’s Day. She is a single woman whose husband passed away some years ago. She must be lonely on these holidays. It was so touching that she did not complain about her condition but decided to bring joy to other couples with flowers. She brought one for Susie, our church administrator and one for me, pastor. She is a woman of matured and caring faith!
