At our sanctuary, 14 Cambodian congregations had Easter Service on Saturday. In Cambodia, they already started Easter Sunrise service! We are global church with different time zones.
Asian countries have community meals as a part of their daily life. Cambodian congregations also have a meal everytime they gather together. I gained a pound today and I knew it.
I gained not only some pound but also some insights on their faith journey. Kimleung Pich , one of the participants, shared her faith journey. She escaped from the Khmer Rouge killing field and ran into Thailand. There she found a way to Phillippines and to U. S. A. Then she worked in the Central Valley for many years until the farm business bankrupt. Then she moved to Boston to work for 25 years until she retired. Then she came to Stockton 7 months ago. She said that God had been with her all the time and she had nothing when she escapted but now she has a house, pension, and children/granddchildren. She praised God, saying, many of the Cambodians have similar stories. That was why the Cambodians came to church!
We know that great worship, aboundant fellowship, and our faith journey are possible because some people worked hard from early morning to late afternoon. I appreciate all those faithful ministries done by many people like these.
