After Christmas Sunday service, many of our church members delivered poinsettias to shut-ins, nursing homes, and people who could not come to church services. I took one poinsettia to Jack and Teressa Erb who live in San Diego. Jack’s parents, Vonnie and John, passed away. Jack donated $10,000 in John’s name for the Columbarium that his father, John Erb, started. They are going to put Oski (John’s favorite team Berkely’s mascot) in the Columbarium because John’s body was donated to a medical school for research. I started writing a thank you card to him and noticed that his address looked familiar.
I realized that their house is 10 minutes away from my daughter’s house. So, I and my wife drove together to deliver the poinsettia while we visited my daughter. I was so happy that I was alive and getting well enough to drive to San Diego with my wife’s help. My daughter shared her joy of seeing me alive with Erb’s. It was a meeting of the living ones, remembering the dead and their sacrifices, mission, and ministries.
