Connections is a weekly publication for the people of Central United Methodist Church to inform, them about programs, updates and pertinent events.
FACEBOOK WATCH PARTY
We will host our second Sunday Facebook Watch Party this Sunday, July 12, at 10.00am IF YOU HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT go to Central’s Facebook page and you’ll see the Watch Party invite. (If you don’t have an account, you can still watch the service, but won’t be able to participate in the conversation/comments) Some people really enjoyed knowing that others were watching at the same time, and it was fun to greet each other as people logged on.
If you don’t have a Facebook account, no problem; the service will still be available starting at 8.00am on our general Facebook page and YouTube, which you can access through our website at cumcstockton.org. If you would like a written copy of the sermon mailed to you let Susie Wanden know. Several people without internet receive the service through the mail each week.
FACEBOOK WATCH PARTY PREVIEW
Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9.30am, join us for a short Watch Party to view the weekly pastoral message. This will give you a chance to learn how to navigate a Facebook Watch Party before next Sunday’s service. You can respond to Jan’s message or ask questions, and she will be there from 9.30-10.00am to answer in real time!
OUR MINISTRY BEYOND CENTRAL
We’ve received donations and notes from people in other parts of the country who feel a connection to Central through our new on-line services that nurture their faith through music, prayer, Scripture, and sermons.
Our Caregivers Support Group also continues to reach people throughout our community who hear of it through friends or neighbors. Our ministry is certainly not confined to our buildings.
During this extended Shelter in Place, it’s good to know our ministry is spreading its wings.
MID-YEAR FINANCIAL REPORT
At the end of June, we had paid all of our bills to date including our Conference Tithe and District Second Mile Giving, along with special designated gifts for Heifer Project, the Emergency Food Bank, United Methodist Committee and Relief, and other organizations we support.
Pledges: $202,058.83 (2019: $169, 182.00)
Non-Pledge Recorded Giving: $52,391.72 (2019: $39,670.52)
Loose offering was down (we don’t pass a plate on Sunday right now) by $3,400 compared to last year. Overall, giving in the first part of the year was up by $36,313.00 compared to last year.
We are grateful for the faithful contributions of members and friends who allow us to reformat and expand our programs during this unusual time. God has blessed our congregation and we’ve been able to help some families who have lost their jobs with food and utility bills. Regular givers will receive a mid-year statement of giving in the mail before the end of July. Be patient as we finish our conversion to a new and much improved database.
Hope to see you Sunday.
