Last Sunday, we had laity Sunday. Many people shared ministries that they did. I was inspired by the Prayer Shawl Ministry that Linda presented. I decided to bring two prayer shawls to our church members in a hospital and in a nursuing home.
I delivered one to Evia who was in rehab. She was happy to be warmed up by our church members prayer represented by all the knots in the prayer shwal. Then I brought one to Maryanne in a nursing home.
When I open the door to her room, she was in bed surrounded by her family. She was dying. I put the prayer shwal around her shoulder and prayed with the family, saying, “All our church members prayer and love are with you!” I read a scripture, sang Amazing Grace, and prayed the last prayer and Lord’s prayer with the family.
When I came out, I saw a voice mail on my phone. I checked the voice mail. It said, “Pastor Lee, Maryanne is dying. Please visit her!” God sent me a message during worship through the prayer shawl before her family called me. I love our church!
(Maryanne passed away on Monday morning after that Sunday.)
