When I had a car accident, I received a prayer shawl from our church. I was wrapped with prayers of our church members. Also, many people prayed for me. Then I was recovered quickly like a miracle. I called it my personal experience of power of prayer.
Then on Sunday, I shared my agony about my son’s mental illness. He is a grown up man and I cannot force him to see a psychiatrist. He refuses to meet one. After my sermon, many people started praying for me and for my son, Hozeh.
On Tuesday, I got a call from my wife. “Hozeh is in a police station, and I am going to the station.” Later he was taken to Psychiatric Embergency Services. Then on Wednesday, I and my wife took him to a county mental clinic to see a doctor and get medication. Police asked Hozeh why he came. He did not know. Doctors and others asked the same question. He did not remember why he went to the police station voluntarily. Police tried to figure out why he came and realized that he had an episode.
When nobody can figure out the reason why Hozeh went to police station I offered my subjective interpretation of the event. I prayed and many of our church members prayed. My wife’s church members prayed also. Then he went to the police station and ended up seeing a psychiatrist and taking a medicine! It is my personal conviction that the Holy Spirit moved his heart and body to go to the police station. They had no choice but to call ambulence. I could not bring him to a psychiatrist for years. However, when all our church members prayed for him, this miracle happened.
Now I am convinced more about the power of prayer. First, my recovery is a personal evidence. Now, my son’s voluntary trip to a police station was the second evidence of the power of prayer. If you have a better explanation, I will accept it. For now, this is my story and I am going to stick to it.
