Update August 26, 2020
Our District Superintendent has approved our protocol to launch outdoor in-person worship in Central Park beginning on Sunday, September 6! The English-speaking service will start at 9:15 and the Khmer service at 10:25. We will continue to monitor air quality to make sure it is safe to worship outside. The service will last about 30 minutes, similar to on-line worship. The order of worship will be posted on a rolling whiteboard so we don’t have to deal with paper. Collection baskets will be available but not passed; please bring a pen if you need one.
Parking and seating will be physically distanced (family members living in the same home can sit together). Masks will be required, and worshippers will agree to a touchless temperature check and sitting where the ushers place you. We know many are eager to experience worship in person, but we continue to encourage those in high risk groups (over 65, underlying health conditions or weakened immune systems) to worship from the safety of your home. Our on-line services will continue to post at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday as they have since March.
Our physical plant is closed until state and county guidelines allow us to reopen. Outdoor worship in Central Park will commence on September 6, with an English-speaking service at 9:15 and a Khmer service at 10:25. Our highest priority continues to be the spiritual care of members and friends while sharing the love of Jesus Christ in our community and world. On-line services and studies will continue uninterrupted by this addition.
During this time, let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul to the church at Rome: “in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.”
