I went down to Aptos on my way to Asilormar Conference Ground. Lyndon and Elise Low live there. They served our church many years and recentrly retired from Columbarium Committee chair/cochair positions because of the physical distance from the church. They have a house where we can see sunset from the balcony. Heaven and ocean meet there to hide the sun who worked all day faithfully.
Lyndon’s father was the first Chinese dentist in Stockton. His three brothers are still living in Stockton serving the community in diverse ways. One of his brothers, Lester Low is the chief of the dental services at the St. Mary’s Dining Room for the homeless. However, his three children are living in the west, midwest, and northeast of our country as professionals. When I hear their stories of serving the communities that they live, I can tell that the past, present, and future generations come together in the Low family stories. It was more powerful than meeting of the heaven and ocean.
Now Low family do not serve our church in person, but we are pround of them because they serve God’s Kingdom in diverse ways. We need both people who come to church and people who move beyond church to serve the world. We are all one in God.
